Product Review: Nathan Steel Water Bottle
In June I picked up a brand spanking new Nathan Propulsion Laboratories 700 ml flip top water bottle. I spent some time trying to decide which bottle to get, before I decided on the steel bottle. I was mostly drawn in by the looks of the bottle. It was quite stylish, and the info that came with the bottle seemed reasonable enough. The price tag was around $20, so it wasn't the cheapest water bottle around.

After having the bottle only a couple of days it was apparent that this bottle was all looks and no brains. First of all, it doesn't keep water cold. You can load it full of ice, and within a couple hours, the ice has turned into sweat on the outside of the bottle. It's okay for the first hour or so, but, it doesn;t keep water cold for very long. Secondly, the pop top is worthless if you move up in down any amount of elevation. Whether it be 10 feet, or 1,000. The damn thing doesn't pressurize right, and when you pop the flip top, water comes squirting out. This is especially annoying when you are driving 75 mph down the freeway and water starts squirting all over your center console.
On scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest, this is about a 1 in terms of usefulness. It's perfectly fine to use just as a water bottle around the house, but for any kinds of outdoor use, dont waster you money! Buy a Nalgene product and you will be much better off.
